Amid a jump in investment in reproductive-health technologies, CerviLenz Inc. has restructured as Lucina Health to provide a broader solution to the problem of preterm births. The company originally focused on a measurement tool to determine if a pregnant woman has a short cervix, a risk factor for preterm birth, or a birth before 37 weeks. Preterm babies have a higher risk for intellectual disabilities, lung dysfunction and other conditions than children born after a full-term pregnancy, which is about 40 weeks.
